Friday, September

Check-in at the Wedge Overlook, beginning at 1:00 p.m. There will be a ride
that afternoon at 3:00. After the ride enjoy dinner at the Wedge camping area. Plan to stay at a motel or bed and breakfast in Emery
County (Huntington, Castle Dale or Ferron) or camp at the Wedge. THE PRIZE DRAWING
WILL BE AT 6:00 PM.
If you don’t make it on Friday, we’ll check you in Saturday morning.
Saturday, September

Join us for breakfast at the Wedge; then choose a ride that suits your biking
ability from beginner to advanced (you’ll need to bring a lunch and snacks
for the ride) – there will be no shortage of views as you ride this part
of the San Rafael and Utah’s “Little Grand Canyon”! That evening,
enjoy a Dutch oven dinner and campfire stories beginning at 5:00 - maybe even
a ride by moonlight (if there’s interest and the moon cooperates!).

Breakfast on your own before setting out to ride again, this time to the Buckhorn
Pictograph panel (has been featured in National Geographic magazine).

Here’s How You Get There (The Wedge Overlook)
On Highway 6 from Provo
Take Exit 241 (south on Highway 10 to Castle Dale) when you get to Price.
Drive to Huntington (the sign outside Price says it’s 17 miles); approximately 7 miles further south beyond
Huntington you’ll see on the west side of the highway a sign that says San
Rafael Rec Access! Turn east on the unpaved road shortly after the sign.
You’ll be driving about 20 miles to the Overlook (the road has been treated with magnesium chloride so it’s
pretty smooth and not a lot of dust) just follow the signs (and enjoy the scenery along the way)
On Highway 10 from I-70
At Fremont Junction, take the exit to Emery/Castle Dale. Approximately one mile north of Castle Dale you’ll see on the east side of the highway

The Spring San Rafael Swell Mountain Bike Festival - number 23 -is coming up
in May 2009 and will again be based in Green
River, Utah. This ride remains an experience to be enjoyed again and again.
